Anthony Grimani: A Leading Authority in Home Theatre Acoustics
Anthony Grimani is a globally recognized expert in home theater acoustics and design. Named one of the “50 Most Vital Influencers” by CustomRetailer magazine, he has also been inducted as a Fellow of the CEDIA trade association. In 2013, CEPro Magazine honored him as one of the “Top 20 Most Influential People of the Past 20 Years.”
With over 25 years of industry experience, Anthony has held executive positions at Dolby and Lucasfilm THX. At Dolby, he played a key role in developing surround sound technologies for consumer applications. During his nine-year tenure at THX, he managed the THX consumer licensing and technology development programs, shaping the future of both consumer and professional Audio/Video businesses.
Anthony pioneered the Home THX program, launched the THX PM3 initiative, and invented the groundbreaking Surround EX 6.1 channel audio format, first introduced in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
A sought-after lecturer, he frequently speaks at major industry conferences, including AES (Audio Engineering Society) and CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association), where he was awarded the CEDIA Top Instructor title.
Holding six patents in audio and acoustics, Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. His passion for music and technology began early—he studied at the Music Conservatory in Paris and honed his skills tinkering with equipment in his father’s amateur audio workshop.

Manny LaCarrubba, co-founder of Grimani Systems, is the visionary behind the principal acoustics technology of the revolutionary CinemaOne Audio Ensemble—the Conic Section Array™ waveguide. His work in this field began in the mid-1990s, leading him to establish Sausalito Audio to commercialize patents related to his innovations. This proprietary technology has since been integrated into commercial products manufactured by Bang & Olufsen of Denmark.
Earlier in his career, Manny spent a decade at the renowned Sausalito recording studio, The Plant, where he served as both a staff and later chief engineer. His engineering credits include work on tracks and albums for legendary artists such as Santana, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Kenny G, and Mariah Carey. He also played a key role in designing some of The Plant’s most iconic recording rooms.
Manny holds a Bachelor of Science in Tonmeister Studies from the State University of New York at Fredonia. A holder of multiple patents related to loudspeaker technology, he is also an active member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES).
